Richardson’s Canal House began long before it ever had a website.

In 1818, along the quiet banks of the Erie Canal in Pittsford, New York, a tavern welcomed travelers, locals, and workers passing through one of America’s most important waterways. It was a place built on simple food, warm hospitality, and the kind of meals that stayed with you long after you left the table.

More than a century later, that spirit lived on in Richardson’s Canal House – a casual gourmet kitchen known for blending historic charm with refined, thoughtful cooking. It wasn’t just about dining out. It was about the experience: seasonal ingredients, carefully prepared dishes, and a sense that good food should feel both comforting and memorable.

After decades of serving its community, the restaurant closed its doors. But the idea behind it never belonged to a single location.
